Arrival & Impressions
Public transportation in Miami is non existant and on top of that it is just to hot to run arround in a suit to save a couple of dollars. A tax costs if I remember correctly $35 + toll to downtown or Miami Beach. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the traffic. If you are arriving from Ft. Lauderdale it will take 45 minutes to one hour. The taxi will cost as much as a renting a car for week. Be carefull as parking can cost as much as $30 a day on the beach.

Business Etiquette
As it is so hot you don't have to put on a full suit. Everyone is very relaxed and as long as you are friendly there is very little that can go wrong. Punctuality hmmm the get lower marks for that.
Tips & Suggestions
In Miami you can get two things done in a day if lucky. Everything is so spread out that you can end up in your rental car 80% of the day. Take your time. Hotels are not extremely exspensive and rental cars neither. If you try to meet 5 people in a day you will get in trouble. You won't make it. A nice restaurant to take clients is Sambal in the Mandarn Oriental. If you are not in town for a convention maybe the brickel area is more businessy.

Miami Reviews
![]() MiamiTook a taxi right outside of the terminal. It took 20 minutes to the Miami beach convention center. I think they charge a flat fee of $35 plus toll. The thing that hit me most was the difference of temp. between being outside and in the taxi. Outside extremely hot and in the cab it was like a freezer. Do not wear a suit to Miami. I arrived at the convention center frozen to get out into the heat again. In florida noone wears a suit certainly not to a tradeshow. I would suggest to go to your hotel first before you do anything to freshen up. You can't go into a meeting like this. Get used to the temp.Read Review | Write Review |
